The Different Kinds of Students

This post is a culmination of my all the observations I've had while studying in the university. I've sent this to our University Confessions page in Facebook and was surprisingly popular for a short time. I'm obviously blowing my anonymity here, but hey, I've graduated! HAHAHA

You'd be surprised how lots of people inside the campus are actually walking stereotypes, and it's fun to identify those kinds of people that you met once in a while in your student life.
Or maybe you are one of them at some point?

Kill Yourself, Then the Consequences

This took place last month so this commentary and story telling is actually late. Anyway, a guy jumped off the third floor of our local mall, and landed on his head which instant killed him. I was in school that time but news traveled fast nonetheless and it became the afternoon talk in every class.

I wasn't too curious about the whole situation since I was busy on my other priorities that time. Thus it was much to my great surprise to see photos of the dead man on my Facebook news feed by the time I got home. That was truly the worse thing ever. So there's a man who committed a suicide, a person thought it a good idea to bring out his iOS and take pictures because and upload it directly on Facebook since he's now a journalist of some sort and YOLO shit. That idea apparently isn't so original since we got a handful of photos (and it's already a lot in social media) of the corpse from different angles. With no editing, with all the horrific reality in-your-face with no regard to their friends who will see it after logging into their accounts. What a weird way to die, to have your dead body seen in such a disgraceful manner.

So what made that man do one last public stunt? No one truly knows, everyone only had speculations and we don't have any updates. The most commonly theorized stories is that he's a Spurs fan who is heartbroken because they lost to Heat. This one of course a big ass joke, but it sure is amusing to see others relaying this information seriously to others and actually believing it. The second theory was that it was actually a public execution, like he was blackmailed to death and did it publicly to ensure the villains. That was way too scary for my taste.

Because of this small city of ours, events like these are still remembered weeks afterwards, that was why when one of our city's congressmen tried to kill himself and failed, everyone is again gleefully jumping onto the negativity bandwagon, so the botched attempt is treated as a joke. I overheard one old man say why he dislike this congressman: "It is annoying to see a male congressman who is prettier than most of the females under his district." Whoa that was one hell of an opinion.

To sum it up, I realized that people in general, don't respect those who take their own lives. Lesson learned: Bad things happened to everyone and it may be hard but you just have to fight on no matter what.

Unrequited Love in a Few Blog Posts

I was doing online journal hopping again. I stumbled upon two old Filipino blogs and I was both amused and saddened. An interesting one was AMIDST SPELL, a blog that only had 5 posts, but I guess the blog was made as an outlet for a girl’s feelings. I'm not so sure if the following entries are authentic or just fiction, but I'm sad for her all the same.
A post written in August 2002 says:
“...may gusto akong sabihin sa kanya pero di ko masabi, natatakot ako baka di nya ako maintindihan. minsan, nararamdaman kong ganun din sya sa akin, pero bakit di nya sinasabi. naguguluhan na ako. tama nga bang ibigin sya ng tutuo? hay....naku! kailan nya kaya malalaman? sana, di maging huli ang lahat...”
("..there something I want to tell him but I can't, I'm afraid he won't understand. Sometimes, I feel he might feel the same way about me, but he's not saying anything. I'm confused. Is it even right to love him? hay.... naku! I wonder will he ever know? I hope it won't be too late...")
By December 2002 however:
("I'm sad at this moment. I've talked to Eppy through the phone last Sunday. I thought I would be happy once more with hearing his voice. He said he was cheered when he got my letter, the same thing goes for his grandmother, I was overjoyed. However I hadn't realized that it would be my last. That smile froze when he said he finally had a girlfriend. And during that moment my dear blogger, I don't know why but all words are lost and I couldn't say anything back. The only thing I could feel was the warmth of my falling tears. He went on talking, but I couldn't hear him already. He asked questions but I couldn't reply. He isn't aware that there are still a lot of things about me he doesn't know about. And that hurts the most. To keep your love for someone a secret, and by the time you're ready to show your feelings... it's already too late ; (
Dear blogger, I love Eppy and I can't afford to lose him...even if he knows nothing, even he didn't became mine")
How I'm imagining her after that phone call
Soooooo, I think she'd rather preserve their friendship instead of confessing her feelings and risks losing whatever relationship they have. Such martyrdom.

A Dog Reflection

This is a short essay I made for my English class last semester. I chose my dog as my subject because I just want to write an essay in which my heart is very fond of.

Remember how your sleepovers or Holloween nights went when you you were younger? Scary games like Cat Scratch, Bloody Mary, and even the occasional (and quite dangerous) Ouija board are certain to be remembered.

AWwww paranormal entities, Humans can't get enough of you, the series Supernatural makes you look cool, and the tradition of testing the nervous system still continues through generations. anyway, I've been online for quite a bit, and have been into forums and such, I was able to collect a few games for the brave and stupid. I am not brave nor do I have balls, So I will just post four of the intriguing ones here.
Play at your own risk.

Time for a Few Korean Urban Legends

Each and every cultures boasts their own share of urban legends and scary stories. who wouldn't want to hear a few? so today I would like to focus on the wonderful country of Korea.
The scary one are almost always the same
Koreans have their own traditional ways and culture that dates back long ago, it is not surprising that we are able to see urban legends that had survived up until the modern age. Apart from the usual unmarried girl/guy still haunting beyond the grave and girls who are nine-tailed-foxes in disguise, there are also new stories to enjoy too, Here are my three faves and let us start with the weird one:

Fan Death
Oh no, Kpop has nothing to do with this. It is all what you read. Literally dying because of electric fans.
Here is an excerpt from a korean english language newspaper, Korea Herald June 28, 1997:

Unique Suggestions for your Bucket List

We all know what a Bucket List is. Seen the movie, made one for ourselves. We all even have our own similarities. Write a Novel, Go Around the World etc., etc.

But there would always be that small space in your list in which you are saving for a very unique, amazing, not necessarily life changing, goal you want to achieve before your death, and the hard part is indentifying what that is.

In this blogpost, I present to you a few suggestions, you could do some research on, to spice up your Bucket List. Keep Calm and Have Fun!!

  • Whistle with Your Fingers- Anyone can learn to whistle, but it takes patience and practice to do it by your fingers, are you up for the challenge?
  • Learn to Juggle- Hey you could become an expert juggler someday, and it does not end with balls, yep you could even use rings, clubs, oh and try doing knives too
  • Memorize the first 50 digits of PI
  • Learn an Ancient Language- Latin's not the only old school lingo out there. There's Ancient Greek, Biblical Hebrew, Sanskrit and whole lot more. The problem lies on finding yourself a mentor, but hey, there's no harm in trying.
  • Learn Pen Spinning- Because blessing a normal pen with a different role other than writing or stabbing is nice, especially if it helps keep the boredom away.
  • Learn ASL- Communication. It is such a beautiful word.
  • Ventriloquism- It is never easy, and it forces you to make witty and hilarious conversations with yourself, don't worry it would all be worth it.
  • Learn Pitman. Teeline and Gregg Shorthand- Time is what we lack nowadays, and you want to remember something, jot it down using these shorthand methods and you are on your way.
  • Learn Sindarin- Tolkein created a whole world....and a language, let us take advantage.
  • Do Lucid Dreaming- You wanna feel that Inception thing? Do this. Seriously. It consists of being relaxed and sometimes you might end up just sleeping peacefully, but determination might get you there.
  • Shave your head- And grow your hair back
  • Download an Ebook and Print it- Do this with banned books or classic/ rare ones.
  • Smile for One Whole Day- Oh look she's nagging at me, smile. Oh look I just lost the train, smile.
  • Recite the English Alphabet Backwards- Unnecessary, but this is not just a walk in the park, so useful or not, getting this one would still be something worth celebrating.
  • Cosplay your Favorite Fictional Character- Thou shall not fear cosplay. Try it and make sure you genuinely love the character you are cosplaying and at the same time suits you.
  • Unlock an Iphone- Do it.
  • Hide a File Behind a JPEG- Be a ninja, cyber style, just before you die.
  • Become a Human Calendar- Needs lots of memorization but this skill is actually handy.
  • Join NaNoWriMo- WRITE A NOVEL. How long have you dreamed of doing this and not getting anywhere? join nanowrimo this year and force yourself have a 50000 word novel by the end of the month.
  • Do whatever You Wrote in your Bucket List- Action is better than words.
